- Tour plan :

After breakfast in your riad, we head towards a place called Ifrane, passing through a village called Imouzzer. Ifrane is special because it is very cold, snowy, and has houses that resemble those in the mountains of Switzerland. Next, we head to a forest where monkeys called Barbary macaques live. You can feed them and walk through the forest. Afterwards, we go to a village called Midelt, where we have some free time for lunch. Then, we drive towards another desert of Merzouga through a pass and along a valley with stops to see nice views. In the afternoon, we reach the Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Here, we ride camels and drive through the sandy desert. We stop on a high sand hill to watch the sunset. Finally, we go to a camp, which is a mix of nomadic tents and a fancy hotel. There, you can listen to Berber drum music, dance around a campfire and admire the stars in the wide open sky. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Wake up early to see the beautiful sunrise in the desert – it’s a must! Take some time to have breakfast. Afterwards, we return to Merzouga on camels – the driver will be waiting. We tour the Merzouga region, which is packed with amazing places for outdoor activities, including sand dunes, a wild lake, mines, fossil regions, and a wonderful oasis. In Merzouga, we start with an off-road trip to an abandoned eyeliner mine. Afterwards, we have tea with the Berbers and meet the nomads in their hand-woven tents to learn about their way of life. The next destination is the village of Khamlia, where you can enjoy Gnaoua music and dance. The people who live here are from sub-Saharan African nations, including Niger, Sudan, and Mali. We pause for lunch at a restaurant. Afterwards, we return to Merzouga for dinner and an overnight stay in a camp.

After breakfast, we drive to Rissani, which used to be the capital of Tafilalet. It is still an important place for trade and has a large market that is busy on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. We visit a workshop where they make things from fossilized marble in Erfoud after visiting the market in Rissani. Then, we drive through palm groves in Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges. These are huge canyons with red walls carved by the Todra River. Climbers really like these canyons, and you can explore them to enjoy the amazing views. Take some time to eat at a restaurant. After that, we drive through Boumalne Dades and head to the Dades Valley. We make sure to stop at the “monkey fingers” rock formation – it’s hard to miss! This place is high up on a mountain, giving us a great view of the Dades Valley. Finally, we end the day with dinner and spend the night in a hotel.
After breakfast, our next stop is Kalaa Magouna to visit the Valley of Roses. If you have the chance to visit in May, you might witness the Rose Festival where locals sell rose-related products such as cosmetics, rose water, oil and perfumes. Then, we pass through the palm groves of Skoura and arrive at Ouarzazate.
