We will pick you up early in the morning from your hotel or Ouarzazate Airport and begin our excursion with a city tour. We will visit the renowned Atlas Studios, where classic films were filmed, as well as the ancient Kasbah Taourirt. Moving southeast, we will reach the Kasbah Amridil in Skoura, partially surrounded by palm trees. Our next visit will be to the Valley of Roses, famous for its annual Rose Festival in May, which offers a variety of products derived from roses such as perfumes, rose water, oil and cosmetics. We will continue to the impressive Dades Valley, reaching a high point to enjoy the stunning scenery of the Dades Gorges. Afterwards, we will travel to the Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has created a spectacular canyon with high red rocks. You will have time for lunch and to walk through the gorges, enjoying the natural beauty. We will arrive in Merzouga, in the Sahara Desert, in the afternoon. Here, you will switch to riding camels through the sandy desert. We will stop at the top of a high dune to watch the stunning sunset. Later, we will travel to a luxury desert camp, where you can dance around the campfire, admire the starry sky and listen to the soothing rhythms of Berber drums. This unforgettable day will come to an end with dinner and an overnight stay at the camp.
Wake up early to see the beautiful sunrise in the desert – it’s a must! Take some time to have breakfast. Afterwards, we return to Merzouga on camels; the driver will be waiting. We will tour the Merzouga region, full of amazing places for outdoor activities, including sand dunes, a wild lake, mines, fossil regions and a wonderful oasis. In Merzouga, we start with a jeep tour to an abandoned kohl mine. Afterwards, we have tea with Berbers and meet nomads in their hand-woven tents to learn about their way of life. The next destination is the village of Khamlia, where you can enjoy Gnawa music and dance. The people who live here are from sub-Saharan nations, such as Niger, Sudan and Mali. Take a break for lunch at a restaurant. Afterwards, we return to Merzouga for dinner and overnight in a desert camp.
Start your day by setting an early alarm, giving you the chance to witness a breathtaking and magnificent sunrise! After breakfast, we drive to Rissani, the historical foundation of the current ruling family. It is still an important place for trade and has a large market that is busy on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Next, we visit a workshop where they make things out of fossilized marble in Erfoud. Then, we drive across the Ziz River and stop for a panoramic view of this valley. The trip continues, passing through the cedar forest, where monkeys called Barbary macaques live. You can feed them and walk through the forest, then we stop in Ifrane, a special town because it is very cold and snowy and has houses that resemble those in the mountains of Switzerland. Afterwards, we drive to Fez, where we spend the night in your riad.
