- Tour plan :

On the first day of your 7-day Morocco tour from Tangier, you will be picked up from your hotel, the airport or the port in Tangier, also known as “the bride of the north”. This city is located in the northwest, near Cape Spartel, where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. The Cave of Hercules and Cape Spartel are next on our trip, starting with the charming city itself. You will have some time for lunch. Afterwards, we will travel inland towards Chefchaouen passing through Tetouan and the picturesque Rif Mountains. We will stop along the way to enjoy the scenery. Your stay will be in the charming village of Chefchaouen.

After breakfast, take your time to explore the charming alleys of the beautiful blue city of Chefchaouen. Enjoy the unique and serene atmosphere as you stroll through its distinctive blue-painted streets. Then, we'll hop in a car and head to Volubilis to see ancient Roman constructions. It is registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are cool things like ancient columns and nice mosaics everywhere. Next, we drive 30 kilometers to see Meknes, a city with a lot of history. We'll visit places like Bab Al-Mansour, the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, the Royal Stables, the Sahrij Souani Basin, and the Granary. After exploring, we'll travel to Fes and spend the night in a riad.

Today we will explore the best parts of Fes. Fes is a very important city in Morocco in terms of culture and religion, and it is one of the great cities of yesteryear. First thing in the morning, we start at the gate of the Royal Palace. Then, we will explore the super old part of the city, called the Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your local guide will show you around. We will start at the Blue Gate, called Bab Boujloud, and then we will wander through a bunch of small streets. We will see cool places like the tanneries, the Najjarine Fountain, and the Medersa Bouanania. And don’t forget the Quaraouin Mosque and University, which is the oldest university of all! After that, we will leave the Medina and visit the Jewish quarter, also called “the Mellah”. In the afternoon, we will drive to an old fortress to get an amazing view of the city. Finally, we will return to the accommodation.

After breakfast in your riad, we head towards a place called Ifrane, passing through a village called Imouzzer. Ifrane is special because it is very cold, snowy and has houses that look like those in the mountains of Switzerland. Then, we go to a forest where monkeys called Barbary macaques live. You can feed them and walk around the forest. After that, we go to a village called Midelt, where we have some free time for lunch. Then, we drive towards another desert of Merzouga through a pass and along a valley with stops to see nice views. In the afternoon, we reach the Sahara Desert in Merzouga. Here, we ride camels and cross the sand desert. We stop on a high sand hill to watch the sunset. Finally, we go to a camp, which is a mix of nomad tents and a luxury hotel. There, you can listen to Berber drum music, dance around a campfire and admire the stars in the wide open sky. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Wake up early to see the beautiful sunrise in the desert – it’s a must! Take time for breakfast. Afterwards, we return to Merzouga on camels – the driver will be waiting. We tour the Merzouga region. It’s full of amazing places for outdoor activities, such as sand dunes, a wild lake, mines, fossil regions and a wonderful oasis. In Merzouga, we start with a jeep ride to an abandoned eyeliner mine. Afterwards, we have tea with Berbers and meet nomads in their hand-woven tents to learn about their way of life. The next destination is the village of Khamlia, where you can enjoy Gnawa music and dance. The people who live here come from sub-Saharan nations, including Niger, Sudan and Mali. Break for lunch at a restaurant. Afterwards, we return to Merzouga for dinner and overnight in a camp.
After breakfast, we drive to Rissani, which used to be the capital of Tafilalet. It is still an important place for trade and has a large market that is busy on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. We visit a workshop where they make things out of fossilized marble in Erfoud after visiting the market in Rissani. Then, we drive through palm groves in Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges. These are huge canyons with red walls carved by the Todra River. Climbers love these gorges, and you can explore them for the amazing views. Take some time to eat at a restaurant. After that, we drive through Boumalne Dades and head to the Dades Valley. We make sure to stop at the “monkey fingers” rock formation – it’s hard to miss! This spot is high up on a mountain, giving us a great view of the Dades Valley. Finally, we end the day with dinner and spend the night in a hotel.
After breakfast, our next destination is Kalaa Magouna to visit the Valley of Roses. If you are lucky enough to visit in May, you might witness the Rose Festival where locals sell rose-related products such as cosmetics, rose water, oil, and perfumes. Then, we drive through the palm groves of Skoura and arrive at Ouarzazate where we visit the film studios used for famous productions. Next, we explore the renowned Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. This Kasbah has appeared in films such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as TV shows such as Game of Thrones. After that, we drive through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass on our way to Marrakech. We will pause for lunch and take photos at prominent locations. I will drop you off at your accommodation in Marrakech.
