With kids
Morocco family tours
Our Morocco family tour packages are private: the vehicle and the driver are for your family only, so you set the pace. That matters with kids. Shorter driving days, stops whenever you need them and free time in each place make the difference between a tiring trip and a good one.
Is Morocco good for families?
For many families, yes: in a short time you go from a medina to the mountains, the beach or the dunes, and each day brings something new for children to see. What needs planning is the pace (distances are long), the summer heat and food in the first few days.
On safety, we won’t give you a sales answer: check your government’s official travel advice before booking. We link to it, with practical tips for travelling with kids, in our guide is Morocco safe to visit?
A private tour means your own pace
- Split the driving. Some tour days involve many hours on the road, like the one from the desert to Marrakech. With young children, we can split them by adding a night on the way.
- Stops when you need them. Toilet breaks, snacks, a run around: there’s no group waiting.
- Flexible timings. Leave later after a short night, or head back to the hotel early after a visit.
- The same vehicle throughout. Suitcases, backpacks and toys stay with you for the whole trip.
Tell us on WhatsApp how many of you there are and how old the children are, and we’ll plan the trip with you.
Family-friendly Morocco itineraries
With kids, tours with more than one night in the same place and some free afternoons work best:
- A 10-day Morocco itinerary with kids: Tangier to Marrakech in 10 days, with two nights in Chefchaouen and two in the desert, or the 10-day tour from Marrakech, with a day at the beach in Essaouira.
- Two weeks or close to it: the 12-day tour from Casablanca, with a full day in Chefchaouen, two desert nights and Essaouira.
- One week: the 7-day tour from Fes, with Chefchaouen, Marrakech, the Ouarzazate film studios and a night in the desert.
Prefer a single base? From Marrakech there are day trips to the Atlas Mountains, the waterfalls and the coast.

Things to do in Morocco with kids
- Ride a camel. On tours that overnight in Merzouga, you reach the camp by camel. For more in the dunes (camel, 4x4 or quad), see Merzouga 4x4.
- Meet the monkeys. Barbary macaques live in the cedar forest near Azrou, in the Middle Atlas, on the road from Fes to the desert.
- The Atlas Mountains. The river and Berber villages of the Ourika Valley or the Ouzoud waterfalls, as day trips from Marrakech.
- The beach at Essaouira. A long beach next to the walled medina, the fishing port and the cannons on the ramparts: as a day trip from Marrakech or with a night there on tours along the coast.
- The film studios in Ouarzazate and the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah, where films like Gladiator were shot.
Where to stay with kids
In the cities you stay in hotels or riads, the traditional courtyard houses of the medinas. Riads are full of character, but often have narrow stairs and are sometimes reached on foot through lanes where cars can’t go: if you have a pushchair or very young children, tell us and we’ll take it into account. In the desert, you sleep in a camp; for more comfort, the tents at Tassili Luxury Desert Camp have private bathrooms.
Tell us how many of you there are and we’ll suggest family accommodation on WhatsApp.
When to go with kids
Spring and autumn are the best seasons, with mild temperatures in the cities and the south: Easter and October half-term both fit well. July and August are very hot inland and in the desert, so favour the north and the coast. Over Christmas, expect sunny days and cold nights. Frequently asked questions
Still have a question?Message us on WhatsApp and we’ll answer you in your language.
WhatsAppIs Morocco safe for a family holiday?
Check your government’s official travel advice (for example, GOV.UK or the US State Department) before you book. Our guide is Morocco safe to visit? links to it and adds practical tips for families.
Is Morocco a good family holiday destination?
Yes, if the pace is right. Camels, souks, the monkeys of the Middle Atlas and the beach at Essaouira tend to be favourites with children. Avoid packing too many long driving days into a short trip.
How long should a family trip to Morocco be?
Seven to ten days lets you see a lot without exhausting days. With less time, pick one area, such as Marrakech with day trips or the north from Tangier.
Can we travel with young children?
Yes. Tell us on WhatsApp how many of you there are and how old the children are, and we’ll plan the trip with you: fewer hours on the road each day and more nights in the same place.
Can children ride camels?
On tours through Merzouga, you reach the desert camp by camel. Tell us your children’s ages on WhatsApp and we’ll plan it with you. For other activities in the dunes, see Merzouga 4x4.
