What the day looks like
We pick you up in the morning from your riad or hotel in Marrakech. The road crosses the plain and climbs into the Atlas along the Ourika river, with Berber villages and viewpoints to stop at on the way.
In the valley you have free time to walk by the river and have lunch at one of the riverside restaurants. If you feel like it, you can hike up to the Setti Fatma waterfalls at the top of the valley. Back to Marrakech in the afternoon.
Tips for an Atlas Mountains day trip from Marrakech
- Shoes: the path to the waterfalls is rocky in places, so wear trainers with a good grip.
- Clothes: it’s cooler in the valley than in Marrakech. From autumn to spring, bring a warm layer.
- When to go: in summer it’s the classic escape from the city heat; in winter the Atlas peaks can be covered in snow.
