3-day Morocco itineraries and tours
A 3-day Morocco itinerary is the shortest tour we run, and every one of them is built around the same thing: one or two nights in the Merzouga desert, next to the Erg Chebbi dunes. All are private, with a vehicle and an English-speaking driver just for your group. They leave from Marrakech, Fes, Ouarzazate and Errachidia, and either return to the same city or end in another one, for example Marrakech to Fes over the Atlas.
Below we compare them, explain what a 3-day desert tour from Marrakech or Fes really covers, and what the price depends on.
Our 3-day Morocco tours
Choose by the city you are in and where you want to finish:
- From Marrakech: a desert tour and back via Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades and the Todra, with a night in the dunes; or Marrakech to Fes, the same road out and on to Fes through the Ziz Valley.
- From Fes: a round trip with two nights in the desert and a full day in the Sahara by 4x4; or Fes to Marrakech via the desert, the Todra, the Dades and Ait Ben Haddou.
- From Ouarzazate: two nights in the desert and on to Fes or to Marrakech through the Draa Valley.
- From Errachidia: two nights in the dunes and back to Errachidia, or on to Fes or Marrakech.

What you can see in 3 days in Morocco
Three days is enough to see the desert properly, not just pass through it. What fits:
- The Erg Chebbi dunes: arrival in the afternoon, a camel ride at sunset, a night at the camp and sunrise on the sand.
- On the road from Marrakech: the Tizi n’Tichka pass, the kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the Dades and Todra gorges.
- On the road from Fes: the Middle Atlas, Ifrane, the cedar forest of Azrou and the Ziz Valley.
- With two nights in the desert (Fes, Ouarzazate and Errachidia): a full day by 4x4 around Merzouga, with nomad families and the village of Khamlia.
What doesn’t fit in 3 days are the imperial cities and the north: for those, see the 7-day tours.
If you have one more day
With four days you gain a second night in the desert or a different road back: see the 4-day Morocco tours. And if you are going from Marrakech to Fes without rushing, the 6-day tour adds Fes with a local guide.
How much does a 3-day Morocco tour cost?
We don’t publish a fixed rate because every private trip is different. The price of a 3-day tour depends on:
- How many of you travel: the vehicle and driver are for your whole group, so the more travellers, the less it costs per person.
- The accommodation you choose in the cities and in the desert.
- The time of year.
- Changes to the route: an extra night, an activity on the dunes or ending in another city.

WhatsAppIs there a 3-day tour from Casablanca or Tangier?
No. From Casablanca and Tangier the desert is too far for three days: it would mean more than ten hours of driving a day. From those cities the shortest tours are 8 days from Casablanca and 7 days from Tangier.
Do all 3-day tours include a night in the desert?
Yes. Every one spends at least one night at a camp by the Merzouga dunes; the tours from Fes, Ouarzazate and Errachidia spend two. For a tent with a private bathroom, ask about Tassili Luxury Desert Camp, our sister camp.
How much driving is there on a 3-day tour?
It depends on where you start. Marrakech is about 560 km from Merzouga and Fes about 470 km, split over two days with stops. From Ouarzazate and Errachidia the drive is much shorter, which leaves more time in the desert.
What does a 3-day tour include?
The private trip in an air-conditioned 4x4 or van with an English-speaking driver and pick-up at your accommodation; the nights in a hotel or riad and at the desert camp, and the camel ride. Lunches and drinks are not included; we settle the rest with you on WhatsApp.
