This Chefchaouen day trip from Tangier is the most popular outing in northern Morocco: about 110 km through the Rif Mountains to the blue city, with its blue-washed medina, Outa el-Hammam Square and the kasbah.

Most Chefchaouen day trips are sold as group tours in a minibus. Ours is private: the vehicle and driver are just for your group, you leave at a time we agree and you stay in Chefchaouen as long as you like.

What the day looks like

Morning pick-up from your hotel in Tangier. After 2 to 2.5 hours on Rif mountain roads you reach Chefchaouen, where you have most of the day for the medina: Outa el-Hammam Square, the Great Mosque, the kasbah and its museum, the blue lanes and the craft workshops.

In the afternoon, if you feel like it, you can walk up to the Spanish Mosque viewpoint, which looks out over the whole town. Then back to Tangier.

Is Chefchaouen a day trip from Tangier?

Yes, it works well as a day trip: the drive is shorter than from Fes or Casablanca. Group tours run on a fixed timetable with a full minibus; with a private driver you leave when you want, stop where you like and choose how long to stay. If you’d rather sleep there, the 5-day tour from Tangier to Casablanca spends a night in Chefchaouen and the 10-day tour from Tangier spends two.
