Planning a Morocco day trip from Spain? The ferry from Tarifa to Tangier takes about an hour, so you can cross in the morning, spend the day in Morocco and sail back in the afternoon. This Tangier day tour gives you a private driver to show you the city: the medina and kasbah, Cape Spartel and the Caves of Hercules.
Day trips from Spain are usually sold as group tours with the ferry included. Ours is private: a vehicle and driver just for your group, at your own pace. We pick you up at Tangier port. The ferry ticket is not included.
Route
What you’ll see
- Tangier’s medina and kasbah, with views over the Strait
- Cape Spartel, at the entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar
- The Caves of Hercules
- Camels on the Atlantic beach (optional ride)
- Time for a Moroccan lunch
What the day looks like
You start at the top of the city: the kasbah, with views over the Strait and, on clear days, the coast of Spain opposite. Then down through the medina, among souks and white houses, and a stop for lunch.
In the afternoon the coast road takes you to Cape Spartel, where the Strait opens onto the Atlantic, and to the Caves of Hercules. There are camels on the beach nearby if you fancy a ride. Back in time for your return ferry.
Morocco day trips from Málaga and the Costa del Sol
From Málaga, the Costa del Sol, Cádiz or Seville you first need to get to Tarifa or Algeciras for the ferry, so allow for that drive when you plan the day. As you’re crossing a border, check the entry requirements for your nationality beforehand: you’ll find the official links in our guide Is Morocco safe?
If one day isn’t enough, the 5-day tour from Tangier to Casablanca is designed for travellers arriving by ferry.
