This Ouzoud day trip from Marrakech takes you about 150 km from the city to the foothills of the Atlas, where the water drops around 110 metres into a green canyon. Trails let you see the falls from above and below, Barbary macaques live in the trees and small boats take you close to the foot of the waterfall.
It’s a private tour: the vehicle and driver are just for your group, and you decide how long to stay at the falls.

What the day looks like
Morning pick-up in Marrakech and a drive north-east through farmland and the first hills of the Atlas. At Ouzoud you start at the viewpoints at the top, then follow the path down past olive trees and stalls to the foot of the falls.
At the bottom you can take one of the boats out towards the falling water, have lunch at a restaurant with a view and, with luck, see the macaques up close. Back to Marrakech in the afternoon.
Tips for the Ouzoud Waterfalls
- Shoes: the path has steps and slippery sections, so wear closed trainers.
- Macaques: they are wild animals. Don’t feed them and keep an eye on food and bags.
- With kids: it’s fine for families, but there are plenty of steps down and back up; bear that in mind with little ones.
