Errachidia has an airport, Moulay Ali Cherif, and from there it’s a single day’s drive down the Ziz Valley to the Merzouga desert. Our three tours from Errachidia are private, last 3 days and come with an English-speaking driver: they go to the dunes and back to Errachidia, or carry on to Fes or Marrakech.
Fly to Errachidia for the desert
If you want to see the desert without the long drives from Marrakech or Fes, flying into Errachidia cuts the journey right down: on the day you arrive you head down through the Ziz palm groves and Erfoud to Merzouga and ride a camel to the camp. It’s also our home ground: Morocco Trips is registered in Errachidia and based in Hassi Labiad, next to Merzouga.

To the desert and back, or onward
The 3-day tour goes to the desert and back: two nights in the dunes, with a day in the Sahara by 4x4, then back to the airport or your hotel in Errachidia via Rissani and Erfoud. To sleep in a tent with a private bathroom, see Tassili Luxury Desert Camp.
If you’re travelling on, the 3-day tour to Fes goes up the Ziz Valley, through Midelt and over the Middle Atlas, with a stop in Ifrane; the 3-day tour to Marrakech passes the Todra, Ouarzazate and Ait Ben Haddou before crossing the High Atlas. Both include two nights in the desert and a day in the Sahara by 4x4.

Yes, on the round trip: on the last day, after Rissani and Erfoud, we take you to the airport or your hotel in Errachidia. Let us know your flight time when you ask for a price.
What’s between Errachidia and Merzouga?
The palm groves of the Ziz Valley, Erfoud, known for its fossils, and Rissani, the old capital of the Tafilalet, with its big market. On the way there you pass the Ziz and Erfoud; on the way back, Rissani and Erfoud.
Back to Errachidia, or on to Fes or Marrakech?
If your flight home leaves from Errachidia, take the round trip. If you’re carrying on around Morocco, the tours ending in Fes or Marrakech save you doubling back and make the most of the road.
